Qld: Three backpackers injured in crash on Fraser Island

Three backpackers have been injured in a four-wheel-drive vehicle accident on Fraser
Island off the south-east Queensland coast.

A spokesman for the Energex Rescue Helicopter service at Bundaberg says the two English
girls and one Irish man are all aged in their mid-twenties.

They were travelling in a four-wheel-drive vehicle that rolled over on Cathedral Beach
around 11 o'clock last night.

Two other people in the vehicle were unhurt.

The rescue helicopter spokesman says the two women have back injuries and the man has
broken ribs and a possible abdominal injury.

All three have been taken to the Hervey Bay hospital.
