Tas: Police rescue stricken yachtsman

A solo yachtsman injured when his boat capsized has been plucked from heavy seas ..

in a daring helicopter rescue off Tasmania's east coast.

Police say the yacht got into difficulties about 240 kilometres north-east of Bicheno
.. on Tasmania's east coast .. at about 1 (AEST) this morning.

The 10-metre yacht rolled and the 53-year-old yachtsman .. from the southern Tasmanian
town of Oyster Cove .. suffered a chest injury.

The rescue helicopter found the man in six-to-eight metre swells shortly before 8 (AEST)
this morning and winched him to safety.

He's been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital and is in a stable condition.
